Since its beginning in 1936, AOM has evolved from an organization of 10 members to an organization of over 18,000 members from nearly 120 countries. Today, The Academy of Management continues to support scholarly activity and the exchange of ideas through our 26 Divisions and Interest Groups promoting excellence in established management disciplines; the Annual Meeting; specialized conferences; six journals and associated content; AOM News; Connect@AOM; and collaborative activities with affiliated and associated societies.
Academy of Management Research
Academy of Management (AOM) members advance the understanding of theory, empirical results, education, and practice in the field of management. To achieve this, AOM publishes six journals, two proceedings publications, and Academy of Management Insights. Research is published within these top leading journals as well as presented at AOM events. All articles are peer reviewed to ensure that they are verified as scientifically reliable, relevant, and adhere to AOM, academic, and industry standards.

Membership Types
Academic
A researcher and/or teacher of management in a college, university, or research institute. Academic members are entitled to vote in all Academy-related elections.
Student
A graduate student with an interest in the field of management who meets the eligibility requirements. Students pay reduced dues for a maximum of six consecutive years from the original date of joining (including missed or lapsed years) or until graduation, whichever comes first. Proof of student status is required. Student members are entitled to vote only in division elections.
Executive
A management consultant or other management practitioner. A manager is defined as an individual who spends over 50 percent of his or her time in nonacademic professional management. Executive members are entitled to vote in all Academy-related elections.
Emeritus
Emeritus status is reserved for current Academic or Executive members who have been a member for 10+ consecutive years and are retired and without full-time employment. Emeriti pay reduced dues, retain full membership benefits, and are entitled to vote in all Academy-related elections.
