Texas Medical Association
Texas Medical Association was organized by 35 physicians in 1853 to serve the people of Texas in matters of medical care, prevention and cure of disease, and the improvement of public health. Today, with more than 57,000 physician and medical student members, TMA is the nation’s largest state medical society.
Your wellness matters – to you, your family, your colleagues, and your patients. TMA offers a menu of resources to help you actively put your Wellness First.
TMA monitors state and national laws to ensure that physicians can practice their craft with a minimum amount of interference. We help doctors set up offices and file claims for payment. TMA is the physicians’ partner in health education through programs like Vaccines Defend What Matters and Walk With a Doc (WWAD). TMA offers continuing medical education programs, has its own physicians’ insurance, publishes the Texas Medicine Today Monday-Friday and publishes a monthly health care magazine (Texas Medicine). Our website site keeps membership informed of the latest medical news and special programs offered by TMA.
What we do together, no one physician can do alone. TMA and your county medical society stand united with physicians to improve the health of all Texans. We provide members with valuable legal and legislative advocacy, practical help, operational information, community health initiatives, and free CME.
Publications:
The Texas Medical Association owns and publishes Texas Medicine, a monthly news magazine for TMA members that presents information on public health, medicolegal issues, medical economics, science, medical education, and legislative affairs affecting Texas physicians and their patients. TMA also publishes Action, a monthly e-newsletter that reports the latest information in the medical community.
