Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce Is the largest business organization in the region. It boasts a membership of around 2,200 businesses and more than 6,500 contacts. The Savannah Area Chamber offers the opportunity for networking, education, marketing and community involvement.

Savannah is not only a top tourist destination but also an ideal city for business or family. Our diverse economy forms a strong business and employment base ranging from manufacturing to distribution, from tourism to military, from healthcare to port operations and retail sectors. Savannah is home to Hunter Army Airfield and Fort Stewart military bases. Combined, the two bases employ more than 42,000 people and generate an annual direct federal expenditure of $1.4 billion dollars.

LEADERSHIP SAVANNAH
Founded in 1961, Leadership Savannah is the second oldest program of its kind in the United States. Dedicated to community development, Leadership Savannah seeks to empower, educate and inspire local leaders through hands-on workshops, mentoring, networking and more.

Leadership Savannah seeks to inspire individual leadership growth by providing learning experiences that lead to a better understanding of our community and preparation for meeting the challenges of the present and future. Leadership Savannah supports the continued development, expansion and operation of Leadership programs, and provides a forum for the exchange of community information, resources and viewpoints.

Each class is made up of a representation from a cross-section of the community, including those active in business, education, the arts, religion, government, community-based organizations and ethnic and minority groups, and reflects the diversity of the community.

The Relocation Guide has a readership of 45,000 with 15,000 printed copies and an electronic version on the Chamber website. This guide offers newcomers information they need when planning a move to our area. Members such as financial institutions, real estate partners, moving & storage, healthcare and education are listed in this guide. Advertising is available for purchase for members.

The Economic Trends Booklet gives an economic breakdown of our region and details our various economic drivers, including tourism, manufacturing, military, etc. Available upon request.

Ambassadors

Ambassadors are goodwill representatives of the Chamber who work for business and community interests in the Savannah area. These hard-working volunteers perform a key role in member relations and retention by working as a liaison between the Chamber and its members. Ambassadors serve to orient new members and help ensure they maximize their Chamber membership by providing information on the Chamber’s many opportunities and upcoming events. Ambassadors also contact members on their six-month membership date to inquire about participation and record feedback from those members. Ambassadors may also serve as the welcoming committee at special events such as business connections, luncheons, ribbon cuttings, and other Chamber networking events.

Governmental Affairs Council

The mission of the Government Affairs Council (GAC) is to provide education and awareness to, and advocate for, our members on a local, regional, state and federal level, thus creating a favorable and prosperous business climate for the business community. Our Council meets as a group several times a year to discuss our legislative policies and positions. Our Council members, who represent all pillars of regional economy, also regularly engage with our Chamber members and elected officials to ensure business needs and concerns are efficiently addressed. The GAC strives to create a strong regional economy, develop business advocacy and political action where needed, and provide direction to Chamber leadership to effectively represent the interests of business before government.

Industry Council

With an economic impact of over $3 billion, Manufacturers are certainly vital to business growth and development in our area. The Council ensures that their interests are being protected and this segment of the community is recognized for the impact it has. This Council only meets as necessary, allowing manufacturers to focus on their priorities while the government and business communities work to assist with removing impediments that could hinder their productivity and growth.

Military Affairs Council

The Savannah area is uniquely positioned and proud to have all five U.S. military branches represented locally, which generates a significant annual economic impact of nearly $5 billion. Ft. Stewart, located just outside of the Savannah MSA, and Hunter Army Airfield generate sufficient economic activity to the area with an annual financial impact of nearly $5 billion. Fort Stewart is the largest military installation east of the Mississippi River and covers nearly 285,000 acres. Ft. Stewart and Hunter AAF together are one of Coastal Georgia’s largest employers accounting for nearly three-fourths of the military employment in the area. One of the Chamber’s top priorities is to preserve and enhance the military value of our community. This is accomplished through community leadership, federal advocacy efforts and the Military Affairs Council, while encouraging and strengthening community awareness and involvement. The Chamber is committed to our men and women in uniform.

Owners Council

Owner’s Council meets bi-monthly to engage with high-caliber speakers from state and local government, community partners and other stakeholders. The lunches are held in a private setting to foster communication and engagement on important topic that affect small businesses. As the name suggest, members of this council own their own businesses. Participation in the Owners Council is limited and is by invitation only. The annual dues for this select group are $375.

President’s Council

The Chamber’s President’s Council meets six times a year to discuss community issues and other matters which affect the successful operation of large businesses in Savannah and Chatham County. The meetings have proven to be both interesting and informative. The Council has historically advocated for policies that benefit not only businesses but also their employees as well as the greater community. Those issues have included public safety and healthy workplace practices. Our number one priority remains workforce development as the greater Savannah areas economy continues to grow. As we exit the global pandemic, the Council will delve into not only workforce development but also issues of workforce housing, labor shortages and education. Participation in the President’s Council is by invitation only as membership consists of the CEO’s of our largest private sector employers. There are approximately 45 members currently. There is an annual fee of $600.

Small Business Council

The Small Business Council was created to provide our small businesses with resources they can utilize to help their businesses grow. Our membership is 80 percent small business and the top request we receive is networking opportunities. In addition to providing monthly member meetings and after-hour business connections annually, the Chamber strives to provide a voice and venue for those members through our Small Business Council.

Trustees Council

The Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce Trustees Council was created to provide an additional and continued source of leadership for the Chamber. Because of the quality and depth of business leadership in the Savannah area, the Chamber and the community benefit from the knowledge, experience, and interest of corporate CEOs and other business executives who are not currently serving on the Chamber’s Board of Directors.
